NHS Bexley CCG and London Borough of Bexley sign accountable care system commitment

NHS Bexley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), London Borough of Bexley and a number of partners have taken the next step towards a new collaborative working arrangement.

Together with a range of health, care and community organisations, NHS Bexley CCG has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to progress the development of an Accountable Care System (ACS) for Bexley.

Bexley ACS will bring together GP practices, NHS hospitals, hospices, London Borough of Bexley and community groups to plan services for the people of Bexley.

Dr Nikita Kanani, GP and chief clinical officer of NHS Bexley CCG, said: “This is a very exciting moment for Bexley, as all of these different organisations come together to sign the MoU.

“We all share a common ambition to improve services for the people of Bexley and by coming together as an Accountable Care System we will be able to improve the services and care we can offer to our population.

“There is still more work to do but we are looking forward to closer working with our partners as we modernise and improve services for patients.”

The MoU sets out high-level principles such as the values and commitments necessary from participating partners, and it will be used develop the governance and regulations to underpin the new integrated care model in the borough.

Stuart Rowbotham, London Borough of Bexley’s statutory director of adult social care and health added: “The signing of this memorandum represents the potency of our local partnership, which has come together to find the strength in unity to face down the challenges of ever-increasing demand and ever-diminishing resources.”

The MoU document also details the case for change, and how services will look and feel different, how the vision will be delivered and how progress and achievements will be delivered.
