NHS Bexley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is responsible for planning, commissioning and monitoring healthcare services for 237,000 Bexley patients. These services include: planned care; urgent and emergency care; rehabilitation care; community health services; mental health and learning disability services.
The CCG is made up of all the 27 GP practices in Bexley. Decisions are made by a governing body, made up predominantly of clinicians – elected Bexley GPs together with a nurse and a hospital doctor. The governing body also includes two elected practice managers, managers and members of the public (called lay members), who give their views and input from a patient and public perspective.
As a clinically-led organisation, doctors and other clinicians are directly involved in the development of, and making decisions about, healthcare services in Bexley.
The CCG also works in close partnership with a number of organisations to commission services eg London Borough of Bexley, NHS providers, voluntary sector organisations, patient and community groups and other CCGs.
The CCG’s vision is for Bexley’s residents to stay in better health for longer, with the support of good quality, integrated care, available as close to home as possible – supported by accessible, safe and expert hospital services, when they are needed.
