#AskAboutAsthma week 16 - 22 September 2019

NHS Bexley CCG is supporting the Healthy London Partnership and NHS England London campaign #AskAboutAsthma to help improve the lives of those living with asthma inBexley. The campaign runs from Monday 16th to Sunday 22nd September 2019. 

The campaign, which is launching to coincide with children and young people returning to school and the highest peak of hospital admissions for asthma, aims to encourage all children and young people with asthma (and the people who care for them) to ask three simple questions

Organ donation week 2 - 8 September 2019

Primary Care Networks (PCNs)

Primary care and community care are at the heart of the NHS Long term plan. The plan sets out an ambition for all GP practices to come together with neighbouring and associated practices in “Primary Care Networks” (PCN) to meet the needs of local populations. 

 

New Ways Of Working To Free Up Doctors As Part Of The NHS Long Term Plan

Patients are set to get longer appointments with their family doctor thanks to new ways of working which start today. Practices large and small will work to support each other and deliver a wider range of specialist care services for patients from a range of skilled health professionals. Around 7,000 practices across England - more than 99% - have come together to form more than 1,200 Primary Care Networks.

From 4 February 2019, the first day of Children’s Mental Health Week, a new online counselling service will give children and young people across south east London access to free, anonymous mental health and emotional well-being support.

 

Don’t let the fear of cancer put you off screening - 4th February 2019

People in Bexley are being urged to put aside their fears and ‘get tested’ to help the fight against cancer.

Ahead of World Cancer Day GPs in the borough are stressing the importance of early stage detection, screening, and diagnosis. Getting an early diagnosis can significantly improve cancer patients’ chances of survival.

 

 

Dedicated NHS veterans’ mental health services for those who have served in the British Armed Forces

CCGs are asked for their support in promoting awareness of The Veterans’ Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service (TILS) and the Veterans’ Mental Health Complex Treatment Service (CTS). Both are dedicated out-patient services available across England to ensure those who have served their country get the support they need. TILS is for those approaching discharge from the military and veterans who are experiencing mental health difficulties. CTS is for ex-forces who have military related complex mental health difficulties that have not improved with previous treatment. Access to both services is via TILS. Individuals can self-refer or ask for a GP or military charity referral. See this updated leaflet, which includes a new number for the north of England services.

From coughs colds and flu to dodgy tums, every year winter weather means more illness and greater pressure on health services. That is why NHS Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are joining forces this year to urge residents to know where to go if they need medical help.

 

Transformation Plan for Children and Young People's Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing - Refresh October 2018

Following the publication of the Future in Mind document in March 2015, all local areas were asked by NHS England to produce Local Transformation Plans for the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.  Future in Mind set out an ambition for improved public awareness and understanding of mental health issues, timely access to mental health support for those who need it and improved access and support for the most vulnerable groups. This refreshed Local Transformation Plan sets out Bexley’s approach to improving outcomes for children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. The plan also describes how we are using transformation funding from NHS England to achieve this.
